What’s On Near Our Lodges This May 🌿
May is one of our favourite months here in Houston, Renfrewshire. The days are longer, the countryside is bursting into life, and there’s a fantastic mix of local events happening right on our doorstep. Whether you’re staying with us as a family looking for things to do, or you’re here for a hen weekend and fancy exploring the area, there’s plenty going on nearby to make your stay extra special.
Saturday 2nd May – Kilmacolm Farmers Market
Just a 5-minute drive from us, the lovely village of Kilmacolm hosts its popular Farmers Market. It’s a brilliant chance to pick up fresh local produce, homemade bakes, artisan goods, and unique gifts. A relaxed and friendly morning out, perfect for picking up treats to enjoy back at your lodge or for a leisurely wander through the village. The market is on from 10am until 2pm.
Saturday 9th May – Kilmacolm Agricultural Show
A real highlight of the local calendar, the Kilmacolm Agricultural Show is a great family day out. Expect a traditional countryside show atmosphere with livestock, local produce, competitions, and plenty to see and do. It’s a wonderful way to experience local rural life and support the community.

Sunday 24th May – Annual Village Beer Festival 🍻
One not to miss! The annual Beer Festival brings the village to life with a fantastic atmosphere. The street is closed off for the event, making it a proper celebration right in the heart of the village. Expect a great selection of drinks, food, music, and a lively but friendly crowd—perfect for groups, including hen parties looking for a fun afternoon or evening out.
Friday 29th May – Houston Agricultural Show Charity Tractor Run 🚜
This much-loved annual event sees tractors of all shapes and sizes take to the roads on a scenic route around the village, showcasing local agriculture and community spirit. It’s a special event for us personally, as Megan—our owner—is President of the Agricultural Show, so it’s very close to our hearts. It’s a fantastic way to see the village come together for a great cause and a real highlight of the month.
